So many times, people use the terms “plastic surgery” and “cosmetic surgery” interchangeably thinking that both are the same. This isn’t really far from the truth; however, for someone who is looking forward to get any of these procedures done, the last thing he or she needs is confusion.
But is Plastic surgery the same as cosmetic surgery? Although they might look completely the same, the answer is No, they are different.
So what is Plastic Surgery?
Plastic surgery is also known as reconstructive surgery that involves reconstruction, removal of cancerous tissues or moving tissues around. This type of surgery involves fixing a body part or facial feature that is abnormal and reconstructing it to appear normal. This can give disfiguring results or can obstruct passages and even constrict areas that may be susceptible. As such, several more surgeries would be required in order to remove these scarring and to improve the outcome.
Bleeding and anesthetic complications
When the plastic surgery involves highly vascular tissues, it is possible for significant bleeding to take place and at the same time, such major surgeries would be done under general anesthesia which would make the person susceptible to its complications as well. Therefore, even though considered general risks, bleeding and anesthetic complications are also considered to be dangers in this type of surgery.
