My error, what you say is correct. Indians did surgery 8th Century B.C. Sushruta is a God sent surgeon. His surgeries were more modern (closest to the techniques used today) and he invented some of the special instruments used. Cataract and Rhindoplasty surgery were invented by him. Internet search of Sushruta, Ancient Indian surgery and Ayurveda.

Usage of anaesthesia was well known in ancient India. Dental (tooth extraction) and Rhinoplasty (nose job) surgery was also being done.
